New Years!

Hey Betty's! I'm wondering what you do with your kids on New Year Day and Eve. If I didn't have kids (mine are 6 and 8) I probably wouldn't do anything, but I feel like now I have to make a big deal about it. I know that sounds backwards, and it is, but just go with it. Now, I found a confetti cake on familyfun.com that sounds fun, but since I already have the stuff for red velvet brownies, I'm going to make red velvet confetti brownies. Again...go with it. I also guess we can make some New Year's hats. Aside from those two fascinating ideas, I'm stumped. I really don't know what to cook, because I know my kids aren't going to eat collards greens, sauerkraut, black eyed peas or whatever else you're supposed to eat, no matter how much good luck it's supposed to bring them!

What are you all doing? I know...you're all getting sitters and going out, right?

This is what happens when a mom gets sick and is laid up on the couch.  Been meaning to start a blog for myself and my wonderful mommy-friends, who we affectionately call "The Bettys" after the original 'Betty', my mom, Betty Jane.  She had sage advice to share, sometimes direct and to the point, moreoften through action (or, inaction in my mom's case).  In any event, I hope this will become a jump-off for all the wonderful 'Bettys' in my life...and the various, colorful, authentic advice they share when it comes to things like raising kids, being married (staying married?), life, love, shopping, travel, and whatever else we can come up with.

Let's see if this makes it any further than the icky cold that has me down!  Back in a while...Anna
